This is the third day of wind, today from the west and with a 11.35 high water Levington was the venue of choice especially as it is only 7 miles from home! Woke to more rain so in no great hurry to go, the bad weather put Mag off being dropped off enroute for a walk perhaps she could bike down later for lunch if the weather is not too bad! Arrived at the marina just past 9 with Rob already there and Michael came shortly after. It didn’t look great with light rain and cloud, a tad chilly too but the rain stopped, there was loads of water in the river so we decided to rig. I went for my 7m as usual, Rob his 6m and Michael his 6.5. Michael was first on the water just as a flock of geese passed overhead and was soon up and flyting using his fast RRD foil today. Again, my 7m was OK but the wind was particularly up and down from 10 knots to some really solid 25 knot gusts. Had some nice long runs down to Felixstowe docks in lovely flat water managing to keep the board flying through most of the lulls by bearing off, I did not want to get too close to the Trimley reserve shore as there is a bank under the water all the way down that straight section! Again, it was a day for gybe practice and things are improving slowly not flying yet but trying to sort my feet change out, I did manage to run off the front of the board a couple of times! As the tide turned the wind turned a fraction north and dropped after slogging back from the docks, we found some gusty wind in front of the launch beach but it was very up and down. In the lulls you soon lost downwind with the tide now running out strongly, time to call it a day and I managed to beat back helped by some really big gusts! So, a top shower and pack up as Mag arrived on her bike with lunch, it had not been much fun biking in the strong winds! There might be one more day of wind with perhaps Levington or Bradfeild the venue?????
